Kent's last population of Duke of Burgundy butterfly is found in Denge Woods, near Canterbury. The Denge Woods Project aims to help these, along with other woodland butterflies and moths...
The Denge Woods project area, between Ashford and Canterbury, contains a high proportion of ancient woodland. Working with woodland owners, the project works to improve habitat conditions for woodland specialist butterflies and moths.
Whilst the staffed element of the project finishes in September 2010, many volunteers and landowners will be carrying on with beneficial works and survey.
The final project update is available below, and includes details for the two practical conservation tasks we are holding this winter - on Sunday 21st November 2010, and Sunday 16th January 2011.
Download the Denge Woods Project Summary Report which highlights many of the achievements of the project and survey results.
