Join us for a trip to Hackpen Hill: a large open-access area of chalk downland at the northern end of the Lambourn Downs. The site is also known as ‘Crowhole Bottom’, and locally, as the ‘Devil’s Punchbowl’.

A walk in search of summer grassland butterflies as well as other flora and fauna. Target species: Small Blue and Marbled White.

Accessibility & risks: a mostly level walk-in along a sometimes-rutted track.

The site itself is steep with narrow pathways and occasional trip hazards. Please check for ticks after the walk and let the leader know if you have picked up any ticks. (Tick advice)
