Meeting At Hound Tor Car Park

50.599018, -3.78229

A free field-based workshop led by the All the Moor Butterflies team and Barry Henwood (Devon County Moth Recorder). The overall aim of the day is to trial an alternative method of recording Narrow-bordered Bee Hawk-moth by searching for its larvae.

The Narrow-bordered Bee Hawk-moth is notoriously difficult to survey for, and possibly under-recorded in some areas. This summer on Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor we will be searching for the impressive caterpillars of this hawk-moth whilst exploring this alternative survey technique.

You will learn all about the moth from experts, and there will be plenty of other wildlife to see and learn about in this species-rich meadow.

As there is limited parking at the field site we will be meeting in Hound Tor car park (nearest postcode: TQ13 9XG) where we will car share a short distance to site. Please wear sturdy waterproof boots, bring a packed lunch, and be prepared for all Dartmoor weathers.

This event is free and open to all, but places are limited so booking is essential. To book please contact Megan Lowe via email [email protected] or by phone 07827 460767.
