Butterfly Conservation in partnership with Ulster Wildlife will deliver a workshop on the priority Large Heath covering its ecology, habitat requirements, monitoring including how to set-up a single species transect.

Large Heath is a Northern Ireland Priority Species which is data deficient and we'd like to improve this in part by establishing better monitoring across the country. This can be done by visiting a site just a couple of times through Timed Species Counts or by walking a transect weekly during it's flight period.

In this workshop we will explain the methodology and requirements - which can also be applied to some of our other butterfly species too. Everyone is welcome and no previous experience is required.
