We will be clearing scrub to improve grassland habitat for the Narrow-bordered Bee Hawk-moth and several butterfly species.
Invasive scrub if left to grow will dominate the important species-rich grassland habitat that is so important for many species of butterfly and alocal rarity species, the Narrow-bordered Bee Hawk-moth. We’ll be using tools such as loppers and saws to remove the scrub.
Kingshill Local Nature Reserve is on the outskirts of Allanton which is near Shotts. A former site of heavy industry it is now a mosaic of habitats including wetland, grassland, bog and woodland which supports a rich array of wildlife.

Start: 10.30am at Kingshill (We'll give you directions and information)
Finish: 3pm
