Wales is home to some of the UK's rarest butterflies and moths. However, we lack information on where many of our butterflies and moths are found, and how well they are faring.
There is a lack of information for even the most common species. Without this knowledge we cannot safeguard sites for the future. We need your help, regardless of whether you are a novice or an experienced butterfly or moth recorder.
Survey and monitoring work is required in all parts of the country. We can provide training on identification, monitoring and survey techniques, recording forms and background information.
Our projects provide rewarding opportunities to visit some of the most stunning parts of Wales whilst working on a spectacular group of insects.
Some surveys can be undertaken in as little as half a day and thus are ideal for individuals or groups visiting Wales on holiday to get involved and provide us with invaluable information. Others require a longer-term commitment, for those with the time and interest to get more closely involved in this exciting work.
