Changing your will

Breadcrumbs

If you have already made a Will, it can be simple to make changes or additions by adding a codicil. This means that you can leave a legacy to Butterfly Conservation, whilst ensuring that other provisions in your Will will remain untouched. This avoids the cost of having your Will completely re-written.

Your solicitor will help you add a codicil, but you might like to suggest the following form of words.

"This is a codicil of me (name) of (address) to my Will dated (date). I give (details of bequest) to the Butterfly Conservation (Registered Charity No. 254937), Manor Yard, East Lulworth, Wareham, Dorset BH20 5QP, for its general purposes and I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or duly authorised officer shall be a valid and appropriate form of discharge. In all other respects, I confirm my Will dated (date of original Will)."

Remember to include the charity number and full address of the causes you would like to remember in your Will.

We are grateful to all those who have already remembered us so generously. Such contributions help Butterfly Conservation to conserve more butterflies and moths, and enable more people to participate in our work and enjoy our beautiful Lepidoptera heritage.
