Save the Chequered Skipper

Chequered Skipper - Photograph by Jim AsherWithin living memory this butterfly was a common sight in English woodlands in the East Midlands and could even be found as far afield as Hampshire and Devon. After a sudden period of rapid decline, the species was sadly declared extinct in England in 1976.

In Scotland, this small, fast-flying butterfly survives, but can only be found within a 30 mile radius of Fort William.

Butterfly Conservation is providing Scottish landowners with advice on how to manage woodlands to help save the Chequered Skipper.

We desperately need to raise £30,000 to ensure the right habitat is provided to secure the future for this threatened species.

Please help us save the Chequered Skipper by donating today
