Moth Predation by Bats

It is pretty generally known that bats eat a lot of moths (as well as beetles, mosquitoes etc) and certain moths have amazing ways of avoiding being eaten by bats (to find out click here) but John Winterbottom in east Dorset noticed that the species caught by the bats in his porch seemed to be in different proportions to those that he trapped in his light trap.

In 2009 and 2010, John carried out a very interesting piece of research which you can read about here.

His 2010 results are on an excel table here.
