Butterflies provide pleasure almost everywhere in the UK. For that reason Butterfly Conservation's activities reach out to every corner of the country and beyond

Butterfly workshopButterfly Conservation is membership-based, with over 30 branches throughout the British Isles. New joiners automatically become members of their local branch.

We hold hundreds of events each year, the vast majority organised by branches.

Butterfly Conservation has more than 30 nature reserves throughout the UK. These are maintained as places where butterflies and moths can thrive.

Dark Green Fritillary by Kelly ThomasScotland covers a vast area where conservation priorities can be very different from those in the southern part of the UK.

Butterfly Conservation Wales co-ordinates conservation work from its offices in Swansea.

Butterfly Conservation Northern Ireland provides conservation expertise from its office on the outskirts of Belfast.

Butterfly Conservation Europe was established with the help of our colleagues in the Netherlands. Projects including determining European Butterfly Priority Areas currently involve conservationists from Finland to Turkey and from Spain to the Ukraine.

The European Interests Group is for Butterfly Conservation members who wish to become involved in projects on mainland Europe.
