Postponed due to the adverse weather forecast. We will try again on Sunday 23rd May starting at 11:30 am (all other details remain the same).

Join us on a trip to Bernwood Forest: once part of the Royal Hunting forest of Bernwood. This extensive Forestry England woodland contains areas of broadleaved woodland, many wide rides, ponds and glades which support a rich flora and fauna.

We will explore the rides, searching for some of the nearly 40 butterfly species recorded in what is rightly regarded as one of the country's best butterfly woods. Target species: Purple Hairstreak, Silver-washed Fritillary, White Admiral and, if we are lucky, the magnificent Purple Emperor.

Accessibility - mainly wide, surfaced tracks but we may wander off onto narrower, muddier paths.
Booking Required: FE have asked us to limit numbers, so as not to overcrowd the car park and trails.
Please check here the evening before the walk to make sure it is going ahead as planned. This page will be updated regularly.
