Join us for a trip to the Finemere Wood BBOWT Nature Reserve: a magnificent woodland with a rich flora and fauna, sadly affected by HS2 works. It has the thrilling atmosphere of a very old, wild place.

We will wander the rides and the paths looking to get good views of as many of the woodland butterfly species as we can. Target species: Purple Hairstreak, Silver-washed Fritillary, White Admiral and, if we are lucky, the magnificent Purple Emperor.

You are welcome to bring a picnic and chat about all things butterfly, moth and conservation over lunchtime.

Accessibility & risks: access may be disrupted by HS2 works. Flat, muddy when wet, with some stumps and roots; five short bridges; benches throughout the reserve. Please check for ticks after the walk and let the leader know if you have picked up any ticks. (Tick advice)

BOOKING

Booking Essential. Access may be disrupted by HS2 works, so we may have to visit an alternative site. Please check here the evening before the walk to make sure it is going ahead as planned. This page will be updated regularly.

Meet at the reserve entrance on the Edgcott to Quainton Road.
