Join us on a trip to Hackpen Hill: a large, open-access,  area of chalk downland at the northern end of Lambourn Downs. The site has a diverse flora and a good suite of butterflies. It is also know as 'Crowhole Bottom', and locally, as the 'Devil's Punchbowl'.

We will explore the steep grassland slopes for some of its special butterflies and other wildlife. Target species: Small Blue and Marbled White.

Accessibility - a mostly level 'walk-in' along a sometimes rutted track. The site itself is steep, strenuous and has narrow pathways.

Meet at the large lay-by, on the Ridgeway near Sparsholt Firs, by the B4001 south-west of Childrey.
