Cancelled - Sorry due to the poor weather forecast we have decided to cancel this walk.
Join us on a trip to Maidenhead Thicket: once part of a Royal Manor and a notorious haunt for highwaymen. It is now managed by the National Trust and supports one of the largest wooded commons in our area. Extensive rides and footpaths give access to rich habitats and a healthy diversity of wildlife.
We will focus on the rides and glades for woodland butterflies; and keep an 'eye out' for Elm, the food plant of one our less often spotted species. Target species: White-letter Hairstreak and Purple Hairstreak.
Accessibility - mostly flat with some gentle slopes. Many of the paths are wide and firm but can be a bit muddy after rain.
Meet at the 'Butterfly Trail' car park, about 300m north of the Bath Road roundabout, on the west of Maidenhead.
