Join us on a trip to BBOWTs Whitecross Green Wood Nature Reserve: this area has been wooded since at least 1600 and, despite conifer planting in the 1960s, it is gradually returning to its former splendour. Its wide rides and sunny glades provide habitats for a rich variety of wild flowers and an excellent selection of butterflies.

We will explore the sunny rides searching for the best areas for butterflies. However, we will focus some time on the Blackthorn where we hope to see our main prize.Target species: Black Hairstreak and other woodland butterflies.

The leader will remain on site to enjoy the views and his packed lunch. If you would like to join them and make this a bit more of a social occasion: please bring along your own packed lunch, a drink and perhaps a rug to sit on. We can chat about all things butterfly, day-flying moth, the work of UTB and how you might help out.

Accessibility - mainly flat, grassy rides, bumpy and roots in places. Benches..

Meet at the reserve car park.
