Join us on a trip to BBOWT's Whitecross Green Wood Nature Reserve: this area has been wooded since at least the 1600s and, despite conifer plantings in the 1960s, it is gradually returning to its former splendour. Its wide rides and sunny glades provide habitats for a rich diversity of wild flowers and an excellent selection of butterflies.

We will walk the sunny rides searching for the best areas for the reserve's butterflies. We will spend some time focusing on Elms in the hope of seeing an oft overlooked butterfly. Target species: White-letter Hairstreak and other woodland butterflies.

The leader will remain on site to enjoy the views and his packed lunch. If you would like to join them and make this a bit more of a social occasion: please bring along your own packed lunch, a drink and perhaps a rug to sit on. We can chat about all things butterfly, day-flying moth, the work of UTB and how you might help out.

Accessibility - mainly flat, grassy rides, bumpy and roots in a few places. Benches.

Meet at the reserve car park.
