The morning is now fully booked. However, I am happy to do an afternoon walk if there is enough interest. Starting at 2:00 - all other details as below. The booking link below should now take you to the new page to book.

Join us on a trip to Wytham Woods: the site is owned and managed by Oxford University. It is an extensive area of woodlands with an awesome history of ecological research (over 1,000 scientific papers!) The woods support a mix of ancient woodland, plantations and limestone grassland, with smaller areas of other habitats.

We will explore the woodland rides and open areas to find and identify summer  butterflies and day-flying moths. Target species: high-summer butterflies including Speckled Wood, Purple Hairstreak and, possibly even, White-letter Hairstreak.

The leader will remain on site to enjoy the views and his packed lunch. If you would like to join them and make this a bit more of a social occasion: please bring along your own packed lunch, a drink and perhaps a rug to sit on. We can chat about all things butterfly, day-flying moth, the work of UTB and how you might help out.
