Join us for a field session to practise your identification skills for summer butterflies and day-flying moths. This will take place at the BBOWT Grangelands and The Rifle Range Nature Reserve: an undulating site at the foot of the Chilterns scarp. Its chalk downland supports a rich flora and fauna, including some special butterfly species.

The focus will be on building your confidence in the accurate separation of common species from scarce species, not a long species list.

You will get the most out of this event if you have attended Nick Bowles’ online Zoom training on the key points of Identification (4th July), Booking here:      https://us06web.zoom.us/j/89476278844?pwd=nHkorai1uSfkhmBTuGBvRDTuTiiq7J.1     Meeting ID: 894 7627 8844     Passcode: 080781

A pair of close-focusing binoculars and a butterfly net would be useful if you have them.

Accessibility & risks: sloping, steep and muddy in places after rain. Kissing gates. Some stiles. Please check for ticks after the walk and let the leader know if you have picked up any ticks. (Tick advice)
