We will explore two quarries adjacent to Tout Quarry on the west side of Portland and return through St George’s Church cemetery. Our target species are Chalkhill Blue and the cretaceous form of Grayling.
Meet at St George’s church car park, map reference SY 686 721 on Wide Street at 10.45 for 11.00 start. (Firstbus service No. 1 - Alight at the George Inn) Duration 2 hours. Bring your own drink and wear sensible shoes. There are some good paths but also some areas of rough/steep walking. Those of you interested in exploring the 18th century church further may do so after the guided walk as it is open all day.
There are public toilets behind the Portland Heights hotel.
