Shapwick Heath NNR

This walk is limited to 20 people, so please pre-book your place by phoning the walk leaders

The Walk will involve a circuit around Shapwick Heath Main reserve closely following the Sweet track route. If there is enough interest, there will be the opportunity of visiting Canada Farm Reserve in the afternoon (Please bring a packed lunch)

Target species:  White Admiral, Silver-washed Fritillary and Purple Hairstreak.

Directions:   Park & meet at OS Grid: ST 425 414  (Avalon Marshes Centre, Shapwick Road, Westhay).  Nearest postcode is BA6 9TT (takes you 1 mile north of AMC).

Information that applies to all our guided walks

There is no charge for the walks. Children and beginners are especially welcome. No dogs please as some of the sites have livestock on them.

Except where indicated, all walks start promptly at 11.00 am; please take care to arrive in good time.  They are taken at an easy pace and end around 1.00 - 1.30 pm. 

Many sites include steep, rough or wet ground so stout shoes, boots or wellies are recommended. Please inform the walk leader if you have health problems that might affect you on the walk.
