Flies rapidly in the sunshine, but in dull weather can be found at rest on rocks, posts etc.

Overwinters as a pupa. The larva feeds at night from late May to mid-July on the young shoots and leaves of the foodplant

Bearberry-rich moorland, mainly at altitudes of between 200-650m.

  • Central Highlands of Scotland, recorded from Inverness-shire, Perthshire, Aberdeenshire, Angus, Morayshire and Banffshire
  • Distribution Trend Since 1970s = Britain: Declining
