Members afternoon – Hethersett Hall, Saturday 1st Oct

We were honoured to welcome our main speaker, Matthew Oates who had travelled from Gloucestershire to speak to us.  He kept the audience of around 70 people thoroughly entranced with his tales of Purple Emperor watching and other butterfly exploits.  He shared his wealth of experience in both conservation and butterfly monitoring in general, adding small, interesting anecdotes – no-one wanted the talk to finish.  After a refreshment interval of homemade cakes and a short AGM, Kiri Stuart-Clarke gave a presentation on how to improve your chances of taking good butterfly photographs.  The Members’ Photographic competition was won by Harry Faull with his photo of a Purple-shot Copper.
