Hello and welcome to a very late first alert of 2017. (I never know when to
start these - the odd hibernator seems to soon, but I turn round and
suddenly everything's out!)

Currently flying are: Small Tortoiseshell, Red Admiral. Peacock, Comma and
Brimstone (the hibernators) plus
Holly Blue, Orangetip, Speckled Wood and single reports of Small White and
Painted Lady
Elsewhere in the country there are also reports of Large and Green-veined
Whites, Small Heath and Green Hairstreak, so we should  expect these to pop
up fairly soon. There's also the possibility of an early Small Copper.
So far an early spring and everything's looking good - a particular good
spring for Comma I think - at least in Norwich.

The first Large Red damselfly has also been reported - the earliest ever
recorded, and more evidence of an early spring.

As usual all reports gratefully received.
