Hello and welcome to the fourth alert of 2018. Yes despite the weather we managed to fit another species into our list. Two separate sightings of Painted Lady, at Burnham Overy on the 20th and Weeting Heath on the 26th. There were also sightings in Suffolk on the 26th, so a small influx seems likely.

Suffolk have also managed a small copper - which still eludes us here. Also not yet reported is Small Heath. but they've only just emerged in Sussex (26th). Also seen there were Grizzled and Dingy Skippers, but we'll have to wait till May for them this year. Wall Brown are out in Newcastle so should be reported from the coast as soon as we get any sun - or even just a lack of rain !

Meanwhile Duke of Burgundy is flying in Hampshire, a Large Tortoiseshell
turned up at Dungeness on the 23rd, and Grizzled Skipper have been found at Gatwick Airport next to the runway. So worth looking out the windows while taxing if you're taking an easter flight!

Currently flying in Norfolk are
Brimstone,  Large, Small and Green-veined White, Orange Tip,  Holly Blue, Green Hairstreak,Red Admiral, Painted Lady, Peacock, Small Tortoiseshell, Comma and Speckled Wood

As usual all reports gratefully received.(and many thanks to those who've let me know what they're seeing)
