Coalition Jeopardise claim of being 'Greenest Government Ever'
Butterfly Conservation chief executive Dr Martin Warren responds to today's autumn statement by Chancellor George Osborne.
"The Chancellor has missed a unique opportunity to demonstrate the Coalition's commitments to environmental protection stated in the recent Natural Environment White Paper.
"This said that the Government would "put natural capital at the centre of economic thinking and at the heart of the way we measure economic progress nationally."
"Investing in the environment is as essential as investing in economic growth and any damage done now for short term gain will be paid for by our children in the future.
"We hope that this announcement will be quickly followed by one re-instating the Coalition's commitment to be the Greenest Government Ever".
