An amazing 41 butterflies have been reported to the Dorset Branch website in February. Top place went to Small Tortoiseshells, with 19 being seen: they were the only species where more than one was seen at a time. Red Admirals came next, with 10, then Brimstones and Peacocks tied with six each. The remaining one was a Speckled Wood: it's very early for them to be out, but there was a report of one from elsewhere in England too.
