Big Give #ChristmasChallenge20:

This webinar was run as part of the week-long Big Give #ChristmasChallenge20 campaign. From December 1st to 8th, we need to raise £15,000 in order to unlock another £15,000 in funding for our Big City Butterflies project. That means that when you donate this week, your donation will be worth double! Click here to donate.

Some people assume that cities and wildlife are two completely incompatible entities, but our latest webinar – Big City Butterflies: The Butterflies of London – will show how metropolitan areas can be teeming with wildlife.

During the hour-long talk, we’ll be exploring some of the species that have made their home alongside the capital’s nine million human residents – after all 47% of London is ‘green’.

As well as discovering the species and places you can go to spot them, you’ll also learn about some species which are thriving, and some which are in under threat.

We’ll also be sharing information about one of our latest projects – Big City Butterflies – which aims to inspire Londoners to discover butterflies and moths, and in doing so will connect them with nature and their local green spaces.

You’ll discover how you can help this powerful project come to life as part of the Big Give Christmas Challenge.

The talk will be led by Simon Saville, trustee of Butterfly Conservation and Chair of the Surrey and South West London Branch, and Kate Merry, Head of Volunteering and Education at Butterfly Conservation.
