Nature needs our help - let's raise £25,000 for butterflies and moths

Thanks to the generosity of hundreds of people, we have met our initial JustGiving target of £15,000.

Meanwhile, I'm pedalling towards my own target of John o'Groats, still 300 miles distant, daunted by some big hills ahead.

I'm seeing far fewer butterflies than I'd expected. Numbers have been well down, after the cold April and wet May that we had earlier. I keep thinking "where have all the butterflies gone?" It's really worrying.

This underlines that we are facing a biodiversity and climate crisis, and that nature needs our help like never before.

So we have increased our fundraising target to £25,000. Every penny raised will help Butterfly Conservation do more to save butterflies, moths and the habitats that they rely on.

I want people to be able to see lots of butterflies in local parks and gardens. And I want to protect rare species from decline and extinction. Don't you?

The good news is that we know what to do: we just need more resources to make it happen.

Please join me in embracing this new fundraising target - share as widely as you can and encourage people to give whatever they can.

Nature will be forever grateful.
