Spring has officially arrived in the Highlands with dandelions, daffodils and the first butterflies of the season!

I always allow dandelions to flourish in my garden because they are an important source of nectar to our tiny winged friends when not a lot else is flowering. Pictured is my first Small Tortoiseshell of the season feeding on a welcome dandelion, sighted on 24th March 2014.

Many thanks also to Barbara Brodie for her report of a Peacock butterfly on 26th March 2014.
