A three-year project that started in April 2012 and aims to get more people actively interested in butterflies and moths, make the data we collect more available, help landowners manage their land for wildlife, and support our volunteers.
We are improving our knowledge of butterfly and moth habitats by collecting information on habitat condition on key sites. Our work on threatened species will remain a top priority. We will promote national surveys of under-recorded species.
Increasingly, we are involved in practical work through volunteer work parties on important sites for butterflies and moths, as well as on our nature reserves.
Making our data more widely available is a priority for us, and we are working with Scottish Natural Heritage and other SEARS partners to do this.
Policy work (especially though LINK) is continuing in relation to the Scottish Biodiversity Strategy, climate change and woodland expansion.
Conserving peatlands and their Lepidoptera has formed a major part of our contribution to climate change adaptation.
Our very successful work with landowners and agriculture consultants to get the best out of the Scottish Rural Development Plan for wildlife is continuing.
